It’s almost time for this year’s Cultural Fest on City Island in Harrisburg! Dauphin County Commissioners Mike Pries, Chad Saylor and George P. Hartwick, III invite the community to the county’s 14th Annual Cultural Fest on Saturday, August 20 from 3:00 – 10:00 p.m. on City Island in Harrisburg.
Cultural Fest, sponsored by Capital Blue Cross, and presented by The City of Harrisburg, will feature an outstanding line-up of live music and entertainment, ethnic foods from around the world, crafts, special family activities and much more. This is a FREE festival bringing together our region's diversity and cultures. Together we’ll celebrate and increase awareness of our vast differences and commonalities.
The Children's Corner sponsored by UPMC will run from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. This is hosted by the Dauphin County Department of Drug and Alcohol Services and Department of Children and Youth Services, in partnership with Dauphin County Probation Services. The area will feature activities, games, and performers to engage children ages 2 through 12. Kids will be able to test their strategy skills in a jumbo-sized version a 4-in-a-row game and be entertained by a magician, a juggler, and a clown. The theme of the Children’s Corner is “It Takes a Community” and the goal is to teach children skills to prevent substance use and remain safe in various situations.
Enjoy live music and entertainment from national and local recording artists, and cultural enrichment. Some of this year’s performers include: Dru Hill’s 25th Anniversary Tour, Dwennimmen African Dance, Chinese Cultural & Arts Institute, Bela Dona Band, McGinley School of Irish Dance, Yam Yam, Blooming Lotus Napoli Dancers, Lil Tim and more!
Other activities include the Dauphin County Human Services, Systems of Care Youth Fest, Professional Development, Sports & Games, and more. There will be craft vendors and small business vendors along with food trucks with lots of menu options to enjoy. The festival is free but bring along some spending money to shop with the vendors and enjoy ethnic foods from a variety of food trucks.
No tickets are required to attend. Parking will be free on City Island. We encourage guests to bring their relaxing lawn chairs, blanket, and bug spray. You will also be allowed to bring a small table and picnic basket. This is a family-friendly event, no tents, coolers, or alcohol are allowed at Cultural Fest.
