CALL FOR ENTRIES

The Peep Art Show Is Back (and It Is Unapologetically Delightful)

March 20 – April 5 • Downtown Carlisle • All ages + all skill levels welcome

Colorful Peep Art Show flyer featuring pastel marshmallow Peeps, announcing a call for art entries with dates, submission deadline, and Pat Craig Studios in Carlisle.

There are serious art shows. There are respectable gallery exhibitions. And then there is the Peep Art Show, which proudly struts into Carlisle each spring wearing marshmallow dust, googly eyes, and the unshakable belief that creativity should be fun.

From March 20 through April 5, the Peep Art Show fills downtown with color, whimsy, and just enough absurdity to remind us that art doesn’t have to whisper. It can chirp. Loudly. In pastel.

Deadline to submit: March 12 (multiple entries encouraged). Drop off artwork at Pat Craig Studios, 30 W Pomfret Street, Carlisle • Tuesday–Friday, 10–5.

What Is the Peep Art Show?

It is exactly what it sounds like. And also more. Artists of all ages are invited to create original artwork inspired by marshmallow Peeps and submit it for a community gallery show that celebrates imagination, humor, and small-town charm. Kids. Teens. Grown-ups. Serious artists. “I haven’t made art since middle school but suddenly feel called.” Everyone belongs here.

Macaroni Kid note: This is the kind of “drop in and shine” event that works for the whole family. No pressure. No perfection. Just creativity, community, and the occasional glitter incident.

Get in the Peep Show Mood: Ridiculous Peep Science (and One Taste Test)

🔬 Peep Microwave Glow-Up
Put a Peep on a microwave-safe plate and microwave in short bursts (watch closely). Observe how it puffs up like it just discovered confidence. Bonus: compare different colors and shapes. Adult supervision required.
🫧 Peep Dissolve Race
Set up cups with warm water, cold water, vinegar, and soda. Drop in mini Peeps and time which one dissolves fastest. Talk about solutions, reactions, and why your child is suddenly a scientist.
👅 Official Peep Taste Test
Blindfold (optional), taste (mandatory), and rank Peeps by “best texture,” “most chaotic flavor,” and “why does this exist.” Make a tiny scorecard. It’s science. Trust me.

Is This Actually for My Kid?

Yes. And also for you. This is one of those rare community art opportunities where toddlers with sticky fingers and seasoned artists can exist in the same space, both fully valid, both celebrated. Young kids can explore textures and color. Older kids can experiment with storytelling and mixed media. Teens can be ironic, dramatic, or deeply conceptual. Adults can finally turn that weird idea into something gallery-worthy.

10 Peep Art Ideas (From “Sweet Chaos” to “Actually Stunning”)

Open-Ended Inspiration

1) Peep Stamp Party (perfect for littles): Cut Peeps in half, dip in washable paint, stamp patterns. Instant sensory joy.

2) Peeps in Disguise: Dress a Peep as a librarian, a firefighter, or a downtown Carlisle local. Take a photo. Viola.

3) The Peep Still Life: Paint or draw Peeps like a classic fruit bowl. Serious lighting. Dramatic shadows. Ridiculous subject.

4) Texture Collage Peeps: Tissue paper, felt, foil, fabric scraps, yarn. Make Peeps you can practically feel through the frame.

5) The Great Peep Migration: Peeps crossing bridges, riding bikes, or invading local landmarks. Small-town storytelling gold.

6) Peep Sculpture: Clay, cardboard, paper mache, recycled materials. Build Peeps that exist in 3D and demand attention.

7) Abstract Peep Energy: No literal Peeps. Just shapes, color, mood. “It’s about the feeling of Peeps.”

8) Peep Photography: Set up a tiny photoshoot with props and dramatic angles. Make it cinematic. Make it ridiculous.

9) Peep Pop Art: Bold outlines, bright color blocks, repetition. Give Peeps the gallery moment they deserve.

10) The Completely Unexplainable Peep Concept: If your child says, “It’s just Peep vibes,” let them cook. Some of the best art starts exactly there.

Events like the Peep Art Show are what make small towns feel alive. They give kids a place to be seen, families a reason to create together, and artists permission to loosen up and play. And they remind all of us that art doesn’t have to be intimidating. It can be joyful, ridiculous, heartfelt, and community-centered all at once.
