2026 Hershey & Harrisburg Halloween Guide

Trick-or-treat nights, pumpkin celebrations, Halloween adventures and delightfully spooky family fun east of the Susquehanna.

Last updated September 4, 2026 • This is a living guide! More events are being added as Halloween details are announced.

Locate the costume bin, untangle the fake spiderwebs and prepare for your children to change their costume plans approximately fourteen times between now and October 31. Halloween season has arrived!

We've rounded up Halloween fun in Harrisburg, Hershey, Hummelstown, Lower Paxton, Susquehanna Township, Middletown, Elizabethtown and communities across the East Shore.

This guide is devoted specifically to Halloween fun: trick-or-treating, costumes, pumpkins, parades, spooky adventures and those wonderfully unusual seasonal experiences that make us immediately rearrange our October calendars.

And because new trunk-or-treats and neighborhood events appear faster than miniature candy wrappers under a car seat, you'll find our automatically updating Halloween calendar at the bottom of the guide.

🍫 The BIG Halloween Adventure

Hersheypark Halloween

Weekends September 12–November 1 • Hershey

Only in Hershey can your Halloween plans reasonably involve roller coasters, wild animals, haunted houses and a frankly irresponsible amount of chocolate.

Hersheypark Halloween returns for weekends throughout the season with family-friendly Halloween fun during the day and much scarier adventures after dark.

🍬 Sweet & Spooky

Bring the younger ghosts and goblins for Hershey's Trick-or-Treat Trail, Hershey Characters dressed for Halloween, rides and plenty of seasonal fun.

πŸ¦‰ Wild After Dark: Creatures of the Night

Bring a flashlight and explore ZooAmerica after dark during its annual Creatures of the Night experience.

2026 dates: October 16–18, 23–25 and October 30–November 1, 6–9 p.m.

😱 Actually Scary: Dark Nights

Older kids, teens and grown-ups looking for actual screams can venture into Dark Nights, with haunted houses, scare zones and a decidedly different vibe once darkness falls.

πŸ•ΈοΈ Halloween With a Twist

Because sometimes we want our Halloween plans with a side of chocolate science, trolley theatrics or flashlight-fueled candy hunting.

πŸš‹ Trick-or-Treat Trolley

September 19–November 1 • Weekends & select Fridays • Hershey's Chocolate World

All aboard for Halloween, Hershey-style. This approximately 40-minute seasonal trolley show travels through Hershey with characters, stories about Milton and Catherine Hershey, and plenty of tricks and treats along the way.

Parent note: This one is specifically designed to be fun rather than scary, making it an especially nice option for younger kids or families who want Halloween without the jump scares.

🍫 Make Halloween Chocolate at The Hershey Story

Select October dates • The Hershey Story Museum

This is Halloween crafting with considerably better leftovers. The Hershey Story's October Chocolate Lab schedule includes seasonal creations such as Chocolate Cobweb Creations, Batty Bars, Mummy Medallions and Spooky Bark, depending on the day's class schedule.

Know before you go: Chocolate Lab participants must be at least 5 years old, and children under 13 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Classes are approximately 45 minutes.

πŸ’™ Sensory Friendly Night at Hershey's Chocolate World

October 21 • Hershey's Chocolate World

Halloween season should include room for families who experience the world a little differently, too. Hershey's Chocolate World will host a Sensory Friendly Night with modified attraction, food and retail experiences, along with visits from Susquehanna Service Dogs and other sensory-friendly accommodations.

This lands right in the middle of Chocolate World's Halloween season, making it a particularly welcome option for families who may find the usual October crowds, sounds and stimulation overwhelming.

πŸ”¦ Halloween Weekends at Elizabethtown/Hershey KOA

October 2–4, 9–12, 16–18, 23–25 & October 30–November 1 • Elizabethtown

If one Halloween activity isn't enough, apparently the answer is to simply move into Halloween for the weekend.

The Elizabethtown/Hershey KOA has five Halloween camping weekends scheduled for 2026, with activities varying by weekend but including costume parades, campground trick-or-treating, pumpkin painting, Halloween crafts, family movies, candy bingo, treasure hunts and after-dark flashlight candy hunts.

Parent note: This is campground programming, so check directly with KOA for lodging, reservation requirements, activity availability and any additional fees before making plans.

🍬 Even More Trick-or-Treating in Hershey

Hershey's Chocolate World Trick-or-Treat Trail

Because apparently Hershey looked at Halloween and decided it needed more candy. Families can trick-or-treat through the World's Largest Hershey's Store throughout the Halloween season.

2026 hours: Fridays 5–8:30 p.m. and Saturdays & Sundays noon–8:30 p.m.

More than 200 painted pumpkins take over Hershey Gardens, along with a towering 14-foot pumpkin tree and colorful pumpkin mosaics. Kids are encouraged to come in costume and can trick-or-treat at four Hershey candy stations throughout the Gardens.

πŸŒ™ A Not-So-Scary Night at Wildwood

Night at the Nature Center

October 24 • 5:30–8 p.m. • Wildwood Park, Harrisburg

The Olewine Nature Center gets a little strange after closing time. Families can wander through the center as exhibit-hall critters come to life, then visit activity stations featuring s'mores around the campfire, apple cider, a craft and a deliberately not-so-scary Halloween story.

Know before you go: $5 per participating child; chaperones are free. Space is limited and advance registration is required for each participating child. Costumes are encouraged, and don't forget the trick-or-treat bag.
