Local Gem Joseph Elgard and Comics & Cool Stuff Are Leveling Up!
Some people make the world a better place just by being in it. Around here, that person is Joseph Elgard, the kind-hearted, endlessly generous owner of Comics and Cool Stuff in Carlisle—a shop that’s as packed with treasures as Joseph’s heart is with generosity.
Now, Joe wont let us call him a hero (he reserves that title for war heroes and lifesavers), but we’d argue he’s a cornerstone of this community. You’ve likely crossed paths with Joseph’s good deeds without even realizing it. Maybe he matched your donation to an animal rescue, provided a warm box for feral cats in need, or helped cover a neighbor’s unexpected vet bill. Or maybe you’ve been touched by one of his countless toy drives, where every toy donated was matched with one of his own, or his ability to turn Pokémon cards and comic books into pure magic for kids (and their stressed-out parents). His generosity is quiet... always given without fanfare. But, once you get to know him—and I recommend you do—you might find “quiet” doesn’t entirely fit!
If there’s a need in the community, Joseph shows up, ready to help. From organizing spay-and-neuter programs for cats to donating comics for inclusive trick-or-treat stations, his actions speak volumes. And his shop reflects that same spirit. Comics and Cool Stuff is gloriously cramped, bursting at the seams with comics, collectibles, Funko Pops, vintage toys, and more—a treasure hunt waiting to happen.
But even treasure troves need room to grow.
We’re thrilled to announce that Comics and Cool Stuff is moving to a bigger, better location at 300 East High Street, Carlisle, PA—right across from Weis Markets! This new shop will give Joseph more space to stock all the cool stuff you love and even more opportunities to give back to the community he cares so much about.
This isn’t just a win for Joseph; it’s a win for everyone. A bigger shop means more of what we love: more collectibles, more events, and more FunkoJoe.
Why We Love Joseph and Comics & Cool Stuff:
- He’s saved countless cats, covering vet bills and organizing spay-and-neuter programs.
- He ensures no kid leaves his shop empty-handed if they need something to read.
- He turns toy drives into toy explosions by matching every donation.
- He’s a go-to for fundraisers, from Boo Buckets to trick-or-treat stations.
- He’s humble, kind, and has a knack for making everyone feel like family.
This move isn’t just about a bigger shop; it’s about expanding the magic that Joseph brings to Carlisle. More space means more room for collectibles, more events, and even more of the generosity that has made him such a vital part of this community.

A Bigger Shop, Same Big Heart
This move is a well-deserved step up for Joseph and Comics and Cool Stuff, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate him. So mark your calendars, and plan to stop by 300 East High Street to see the new and improved Comics and Cool Stuff. Trust us—it’s worth the trip. And if you’re looking for a new friend, Joseph’s your guy. Just don’t call him a hero—he’ll protest. But we’ll know better. Let’s show Joseph how much his kindness means to this community.
Congratulations, Joe! Your heart for the community has made this all possible, and we can’t wait to see what amazing things happen next.
And remember, if you’ve got a little cash and a kid who loves Pokémon cards or a collector in your life who’s impossible to shop for, head to Comics and Cool Stuff. It’s more than a shop—it’s a little hub of magic and generosity, run by a man who truly makes this world a better place.
Cheers to the next chapter, Joe! πHere’s to more space, more cool stuff, and more ways to make the world a brighter place! π
