Parades, ceremonies and festivities geared towards families

Memorial Day is a cherished time to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Families in Harrisburg and the neighboring communities of West Shore can find a range of parades and ceremonies to pay tribute to our fallen heroes during this meaningful holiday.



May 27 - Memorial Day Service
Hampden Township Veterans Park, Enola

Hampden Township Veterans Recognition Committee will host the annual Hampden Township Memorial Day Service honoring the sacrifices made by women and men of the Armed Forces. Hampden Township Civil War hero, U.S. Army Private David W. Conrad will also be remembered at the service. Prayers will be offered by Chaplain Brent Mangus, Captain, 1/108th Field Artillery Battalion, 28th Infantry, PA National Guard; VFW Memorial Post 6704 will provide the honor guard; and music by the Cumberland Valley High School Brass Quintet and vocalist Matthew Robinson. Veterans are invited to wear their uniforms or service ribbons.

In the event of poor weather, the service will move to the Hampden Township Volunteer Fire Company Station 1 on Good Hope Road.



May 28 - Boiling Springs Ceremony & Parade
The Veterans of Foriegn Wars is again hosting the Memorial Day Parade and picnic in Boiling Springs on Sunday 28 May at 1:00. The parade will start at the BSHS and weave it’s way through the village and finalize at the Clock Tower, where the VFW will host the ritual and ceremony. The guest speaker is Ms. Patti Looney (class of 1981) a veteran of the US Navy.  

Please make time this Sunday as the BSHS Marching Band, Cumberland County Honor Guard and the Veterans of Foreign Wars with support from so many others pay respect to our fallen comrades.

The educational portion of this year's event is the “Salute”.  We will explain the reason for and demonstrate the proper method to this age old tradition. Don’t forget that there is a FREE a picnic following the parade in the BS Tavern picnic area.



May 29 - Camp Hill Parade Parade, Ceremony & Festivities
The 104th Annual Memorial Day Parade, Cemetery Ceremony and Memorial Day Festivities are happening this coming Monday, May 29, 2023!

Join Camp Hill at 9:30 AM for the parade, 11 AM for the Cemetery Ceremony and then enjoy the festivities in Willow Park following the parade, including a bounce house for kids.



May 29 - Mechanicsburg Parade & Ceremony
Mechanicsburg Area Veterans Council will hold a Memorial Day Parade & Service. The parade will form at 9:15 and proceed beginning at Filbert & Simpson St at 10am and continue to the Mechanicsburg Cemetery GAR monument, Marble St. A service will follow in front of the GAR monument at 11am.



May 29 - New Cumberland Parade & Ceremony
Join in the American spirit of paying our respects to those who gave up their lives so we could remain free. A brief Memorial Ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the VFW Memorial located in Veteran’s Park at Park Avenue and Bridge Street in New Cumberland Borough. The parade will begin immediately following the Memorial Ceremony (approximately 12:00 p.m.) and proceed down Bridge Street to Third Street turning left and ending at Market Square.



May 29 - Carlisle Parade & Service
The Joint Council of Carlisle will host a Memorial Day Parade at 9 a.m. May 29, beginning at North Hanover and North streets. It will then proceed south on Hanover Street, past the Square, and turn right on West Pomfret Street. The parade will then continue west and turn right onto South Pitt Street. After the parade, a memorial service will be held at Veterans Memorial Courtyard at the Carlisle Square.
