The Fairground Avenue Skate Spot is ready ahead of schedule and will open to the public on Thursday, February 2 at 3:30 p.m. The Skate Spot, located at 413 Fairground Avenue, is part of the larger Fairground Avenue Linear Park project. It will be open from dawn to dusk until the solar lighting is completed in the spring. The entire park project has an estimated full completion date of June 30, 2023.
All concrete elements and safety features, including railings and handrails, that permit an early opening have been installed ahead of the soft opening on February 2nd.
Construction on the recreational area of Fairground Avenue Linear Park is anticipated to be completed by the end of June. This park area will feature an entry plaza, native plantings, benches, and solar lighting. Another feature will be an interactive play area with inclusive play elements and sensory play. The park will also include an interactive walking path with swing benches, glider benches, and hammocks.
Once construction is finalized for both areas, the Parks and Recreation Department will hold an official grand opening celebration for the community.
