Upcoming Events for Kids in Dauphin County

Registration now open for several great events

Dauphin County has a lot of wonderful events and offerings for families over the next few months. Whether it's a visit to Olewine Nature Center, a hike around Wildwood Lake or one of the great events below there are so many fun things coming up for kids!



Preschool Storytime: Winter at Wildwood
February 1 at 10:00 am, FREE
Join a Dauphin County Library System Librarian and Wildwood Environmental Educator for a fun story session for children ages 2-5. Stories, songs, rhymes, play, and a take-home craft will introduce Wildwood critters and the joy of books and language to youngsters. Space is limited. 



Kids Discover: Groundhogs
February 4 at 1:30pm, $5
Did Phil see his shadow and announce 6 more weeks of winter? Where do animals spend the winter? Join a Naturalist to discover more about groundhogs and wintertime. A walk will follow, where we will search for signs of other burrowing animals. Ages 5-10 children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited. Pre-registration required.



Kids Discover: Owls
February 11 at 10:30 am, $8
WHOOOO is ready to learn about Masters of the Night?!!? Listen to a fun story about owls to learn why these nocturnal raptors are masters of the night. Discover PA owls by seeing and hearing their feathers and calls. Become a lab scientist by dissecting an owl pellet to discover what owls eat. Ages 4-6, one chaperone per child. Space is limited. Pre-registration required.



Sweethearts Tea and Craft
February 11 at 2:00 pm, $3
Spend the afternoon with your special someone, whether that’s your sweetheart, grandchild, or an old friend. Enjoy a hearty cup of tea and some sweet treats before making a craft for someone in the community that needs a little love this Valentine’s Day. The craft will include 2 parts: a themed card to someone in the community, and a “pocket hug,” a small clay heart. The heart, or “pocket hug,” can be carried in the pocket of the recipient and given a squeeze whenever they are needing a little extra comfort. The cards and hearts will be delivered to members of the community by volunteers on Valentine’s Day.



Indoor Game Day Family Program
February 25 at 10:30am, $3
Kaleidoscopes, whirligigs, and tiddlywinks, oh my! Break out of the winter doldrums with a day of play. Participate in indoor games and toys from the Colonial and Civil War eras, some of which are familiar and some may need some instruction. No worries, friendly staff will be on hand to demonstrate, so come on out and play!
