Our three kids are super active when running around during sports, at school and in the yard playing games and climbing the swing set, so they are rough on shoes. When it comes to buying sneakers we need something we know will hold up until the sneakers are outgrown so we aren’t constantly replacing shoes.
How are my kids not this little anymore?! |
When my oldest was a toddler and started wearing sneakers for actual need and not just because tiny little sneakers look so adorable on babies, I just assumed we’d head to the store, pick a pair off the shelf that were the size up from what he was wearing currently and that would be it. As with many things I’ve learned as a parent, it isn’t as easy as that.
The first pair of shoes I picked out for him were adorable and looked great, but after a few days of wearing them, they gave him blisters on the back of his foot and rubbed his little pinky the wrong way. I still remember just how bad I felt looking at that little chubby foot and not knowing where to go from there to find the best shoes for him.
Thankfully a friend in my mommy group mentioned trying Irving’s Shoe Fly in Camp Hill. The very next day I took him there and couldn’t believe they took a bunch of measurements, felt his foot in the little blue Saucony sneakers from different angles and watched as he walked all around the store to make sure they were comfortable. I knew in that moment we could rely on both Saucony and the folks at Irving's Shoe Fly.
Fast forward more than eight years, add a little brother, little sister and put back to school on the horizon and it was time to go sneaker shopping. We of course went to Irving’s Shoe Fly, where we met John, who was absolutely fantastic with the kids. He was so patient with all of them, but especially my son who has sensory issues with tight shoes & socks, listened to all three kids’ input and made back to school sneaker shopping surprisingly easy. I couldn’t believe how quickly he found Saucony sneakers each kid not only liked, but were the perfect fit for their feet.
It was so nice to be able to knock back to school sneaker shopping off our list in such an easy way, thanks to John and the folks at Irving’s Shoe Fly. My own family has been using them for years for not only sneakers, but dress shoes for a wedding, hiking boots, and adorable “sparkle shoes” for my daughter.
