From Kat, your Macaroni Kid publisher: I know the holidays have passed, but I wanted to share this info from the Dauphin County Commissioners with all of you. Bookmark this and/or save the numbers to your phone in the event that you or someone you love needs help.
===================================
The holidays can be especially hard for those suffering from depression, anxiety or addiction, and the Dauphin County Commissioners want to make sure residents know that help is available.
“Sometimes people don’t seek help because they are afraid of being stigmatized or being seen as weak,’’ said Commissioner George P. Hartwick, III. “We are here to tell you that the only shame is in not getting the help you need.’’
“It can be especially hard over the holidays, and we want our residents to know that help is available if they need it,’’ said board Chairman Jeff Haste. “If you know someone who is in trouble, now is the time to get them the treatment they need. You may very well save their life."
Dauphin County’s addiction and counseling services are available 24/7, and someone always answers.
“If you’re battling addiction or depression, give yourself and your loves ones a meaningful present this holiday season: get the help you need,’’ said Commissioner Mike Pries. “You are not alone.’’
