Easter Seals Color Splash 5K Walk/Run @ Adams-Ricci Park - April 12

March 19, 2014

The Harvest Health 5k COLOR SPLASH Run/Walk held at Adams Ricci Park on April 12, 2014is still accepting registrations for walkers and runners! Due to last year’s response, the maximum number of allowed race participants has been doubled from 250 to 500 to allow more people to benefit from the event. The COLOR SPLASH Run/Walk benefits programs and camp for children and adults with disabilities in the Greater Harrisburg area provided by Easter Seals. This year’s race is sponsored by Holy Spirit Health System, Karns Foods, AllBetterCare Urgent Care Center and Smith Elliot Kearns and Company, LLC.

Participants of all ages will line up at the start line for the chance to run or walk a 5k and be BLITZ ED with powdered color made with corn starch and food coloring! Harvest Health 5k recommends runners wear awhite t-shirt & clothing that can be dyed like an Easter egg. Those who register before the cut-off date will receive a white t-shirt at bib pick-up. The color should not stain your hair or body after showering, but please take caution! There will be 4 stations throughout the course with a different color at each. As the runners travel through each station, they will be BLITZ ED by volunteers with powdered color! More details on "what to bring" can be found by clicking here.

New Features to Color Splash: The Color War & Egg Hunt
After the race, a “Color War” has been added where participants can throw, splatter, and BLITone another in the colorful corn starch mixture. Kids aged 2-6 also have the opportunity to take part in an Easter egg hunt presented by East Pennsboro Township at 2pm to celebrate the spring season.

“As the Painted Platinum Sponsor, Holy Spirit is thrilled to be a part of such an important event that addresses community health and wellness,” commented Megan Atticks, Spirit of Women Coordinator for the health system. “The race is a great opportunity for children and adults alike to get some physical activity in and kick the sedentary lifestyle, which is linked to many negative health consequences, such as obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. We applaud Harvest Health’s mission and are proud to help support it through the Color Splash race.”
