Why Macaroni KID Is Spotlighting This Ride for Kids With ADHD

The Oct. 3 Ride for Kindness raises funds to help children and teens with ADHD access care

By Rachael Benion, Publisher, Macaroni KID Hershey & Harrisburg September 14, 2026

I know what you're thinking.

A car and motorcycle ride isn't exactly our usual Macaroni KID event recommendation.

And you're right.

This probably isn't the event where I'm telling you to load five children into the MacVAN with snacks, water bottles and seventeen completely unnecessary stuffed animals.

But sometimes an event isn't necessarily for kids and is still very much about showing up for kids.

This is one of those.

This One Hit Close to Home

I have ADHD. My house is basically an alphabet soup of neurodiversity. I spend a lot of time thinking about what it means for kids whose brains work differently to grow up surrounded by adults who understand them, believe them, support them and help them access what they need to thrive.

So when information about Anthony's Way – The Road to Kindness landed in my inbox, I stopped.

The organization was founded in memory of Anthony Bellezza, a Hershey native who lived with ADHD and died in 2016 at just 18 years old as a result of ADHD-related impulsivity.

His family has transformed that devastating loss into a mission focused on supporting children and teenagers with ADHD through access to care, resources, education and kindness.

And on Saturday, October 3, they're bringing that mission back to Anthony's hometown for the 2nd Annual Ride for Kindness & ADHD.

Here's the part I really want Macaroni KID families to know: 100% of the proceeds from this ride go directly toward helping a child or teenager with ADHD access the care and resources they need.

Why That Matters

ADHD gets reduced to a punchline far too easily.

We joke about distraction. Losing keys. Having 47 browser tabs open. Starting one household project and somehow ending up reorganizing a completely unrelated closet.

And yes, sometimes living with an ADHD brain is objectively funny.

But ADHD can also affect impulse control, emotional regulation, executive functioning, relationships, school, work and daily life. For children and teenagers learning how to navigate all of that while they're also learning who they are, having knowledgeable adults, appropriate care and a community willing to understand them can matter enormously.

That's why I'm making a little room outside our usual kid-friendly event coverage for this one.

Because the motorcycles may be for the grown-ups.

The reason they're riding is the kids.

Want to Ride for Kindness?

The ride is open to cars, trucks and motorcycles, so you don't need a motorcycle to participate.

The route begins at Susquehanna Valley Harley Davidson, travels through Memorial Lake, the Jigger Shop in Mt. Gretna and Campbelltown Community Park, and ends at Fresh Market at Hershey Towne Square.

The day also includes a dice run, raffles, prize drawings and a 50/50 drawing.

Maybe you're part of an ADHD family too. Maybe you love someone who is. Maybe you just believe kids deserve access to the support that helps them become who they're capable of becoming.

Whatever brings you to the starting line, this is one of those days where a community can turn up for families in a very literal way.

One car. One truck. One motorcycle. One act of kindness at a time.
