Wait...What Is a BOO Bag?
Think of it as Halloween's sneakier, sugar-fueled cousin. A family leaves a surprise bag filled with treats and Halloween fun on another family's porch, rings the bell and disappears before anyone can identify the suspiciously giggling figure sprinting toward a minivan.
The family that receives the surprise hangs up a “We've Been BOO'd” sign, creates one or two new surprises and sends the magic traveling to another home or two. Each family keeps the chain moving, and before long kindness, candy and mild neighborhood confusion are spreading all over Central Pennsylvania.
How to BOO It Forward
Watch for the First BOO
Before more than 100 BOO Bags begin creeping onto porches throughout the region, one very special First BOO will officially kick off the 2026 campaign. It will offer families their first peek at the treats, surprises and local partners helping us launch this year's chain reaction of Halloween kindness.
Follow Macaroni KID on social media to see the First BOO arrive, meet more of the businesses behind the fun and watch as the campaign begins traveling through Hershey, Harrisburg, Carlisle and the West Shore. Every BOOing will look a little different...and that is exactly part of the magic.
What Might Be Hiding Inside?
Signing up provides a chance to receive one of the initial deliveries; it does not guarantee selection. The contents of individual bags will vary.
Watch for a Golden Ghost Surprise
A few randomly selected deliveries will contain an extra-special prize donated by a participating business. Confirmed surprises already include a gift card for one month of swim lessons from British Swim School of Greater Harrisburg and five Jubilee Cake Studio stamp passes, each good for ten individual visits. More surprises are still materializing.
Prize contents, eligibility requirements and geographic restrictions may vary. Golden Ghost placement is random unless a prize requires an approved local service area.
