Hershey Bears games make for great family time

October 29, 2014
This past Saturday my family and I were invited to the Giant Center to watch the Hershey Bears kick off their '14-'15 season at home, which overjoyed my sports-loving boys.

It was awesome to see the team announced for the first time of the season on their home ice, and too see assistant coach Brian Helmer announced. Helmer was the captain of the Bears the fall I was pregnant with LittleMan so it was especially cool to see him come full circle back to Hershey.

LittleMan is now 5 and is starting to not like having to go to the ladies' room with me, but thankfully Giant Center offers a family restroom right outside section 125 on the main concourse. The family restroom is a life saver for taking the boys to the bathroom and not having to worry about someone opening the stall door or climbing under the stalls, or just generally complaining (loudly) about having to use the ladies' room.

The Giant Center does get pretty loud during games, especially during goals, fights and 'questionable' calls from the refs so if you have a child who is sensitive to loud sounds this is something to keep in mind. If you need handicap seating be sure to contact the Giant Center, there are a lot of handicap accessible seats available.

We did take our 2 month old with us in a baby wrap and she slept through the last 3 goals and the cheering that accompanied those goals. There really isn't anywhere easy to put a baby seat/carrier so wearing or carrying a baby is definitly the easiest way to go. You can bring a diaper bag with you to the game but it will be checked when you enter the Giant Center. Formula & baby food are permitted, but no other outside food or drinks.

We just love the Hershey Bears, we always have a great time at the games and really enjoy spending that time as a family. The games are always so full of excitement, especially when a player gets out of the penalty box, intercepts the puck, takes it to the goal, and ends up getting a penalty shot to score a goal for the team. My boys are already requesting tickets for Christmas and their birthdays to go back and see the Bears play again. They love watching NHL and especially love when a player from the Bears is called up and they get to watch him on TV as a pro.

Game schedule and ticket information can be found on the Giant Center website. Tickets or signing your kids up for Coco's Kids Club would make great gifts!
