Cherry Crest Adventure Farm Offers Fun For All Ages

October 1, 2014
This past Saturday my family and I were invited to Cherry Crest Adventure Farm to check out all of their fun fall offerings for families. Through Facebook I've heard of Cherry Crest before, but have never made it down to Lancaster County for a visit. Saturday was perfect weather so we loaded up & headed down for a visit.

When we got to the farm the parking area looked packed, but because of the large size of the farm and corn maze it did not feel packed inside the farm at all. In fact, we barely had to wait for any of the 50+ activities the farm offered. Cherry Crest Adventure Farm is probably most well known for their awesome Corn Maze. Each year for over 20 years their field is transformed into one of the highest rated corn mazes in Central PA, if not the whole country. The maze offers three levels of 'challenges' making it fun for all ages!

We gave both of the boys one of the maps the farm offers showing where all the activities are and let them decide where to start. Being big fans of animals, they quickly decided to head to The Courtyard area where all of the animals hang out & the Discovery Barn is located. They were mesmerized by the goat walkway up in the air and the animals to pet and feed. Bring quarters with you if your kiddos enjoy feeding animals. The Discovery Barn was one of their favorite activities. Inside was an incubator where you could see chicks actually hatching while you waited your turn to hold some of the adorable & fluffy little chicks that had hatched days before.

We managed to hit almost all of the activities Cherry Crest Adventure Farm offered. One of the boys' favorites without a doubt was the Barn Yard Jump Pillow, Jr. It is basically a giant air-filled pillow the kids can hop on like a trampoline. Soon after they started bouncing we realized they probably should have taken their socks off prior to jumping since the pillow is surrounded by sand, but we had extras in the diaper bag so we just swapped them out when they finished. There are actually two pillows, depending on your size you either jump on the regular pillow or the junior pillow - making it safer for little ones.

If you have sports fans in your family they will love Corny's Ball-cade, where there are soccer balls, baseballs, basketballs and footballs to try to kick or throw into goals/hoops. We could have spent way longer going between each of the sports but wanted to make sure we hit more of the activities before we left.

Thankfully the farm is super stroller & wheelchair friendly, making it easy to bring the baby and diaper bag with us. I have to admit, one of the things I appreciate the most about Cherry Crest is the Nursing Moms Room and diaper changing area. There's not much worse than trying to change a diaper in a bathroom not well equipped for such an endeavor. Throughout the farm there are also hand washing stations, making it easy to quickly clean hands after petting animals and playing so hard at the farm before grabbing some delicious food or snacks.

Cherry Crest's Barnyard Activities are open Thursdays (10a-5p), Fridays (10a-7p) & Saturdays (10a-7p). The Corn Maze is open Fridays & Saturdays (6:30p-10p) for a fun Flashlight Maze.

Tickets are available online, or you can purchase them at the front gate at the farm.

Cherry Crest is located close to Strasburg Railroad, Railroad Museum of PA, both Tanger and Rockvale Outlets & other great attractions in Lancaster County - making it easy to enjoy a full day in beautiful Lancaster County. Strasburg Railroad actually runs through the farm, so young train fans can see trains pretty close!

Before we even left the parking area my boys were asking to come back next year and when it opens up next year in the spring! We will be adding Cherry Crest Adventure Farm to our list of fall activities for next year without a doubt!
