Food Truck Festival to Help Make Wishes Come True

October 19, 2016
Where can you find 35 incredible food trucks coming together to help make wishes come true for local children suffering from life threatening illnesses? The 2nd Annual Wish Upon a Food Truck Festival which will be held on Saturday, October 22, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Harrisburg Area Community College – Main Campus.

The event was started by Sherrie Davis who has been a volunteer wish granter with Make-A-Wish for the past 17 years. Last year she wanted to do something more to help raise money to help make wishes come true. Her husband, Ken, and Sherrie attended a food truck festival in Palmyra in May of 2015 and she thought this would be a great way to bring people together to raise money for more wishes.

With input from the organizers of the Palmyra Truck Trek event and several food truck owners and associations, wonderful sponsors and with Gander Mountain, Harrisburg, offering their site as a location, the 1st Wish Upon a Food Truck Festival was born. The goal was to have 15 food trucks and approximately 5,000 people attending and to raise around $5,000. It was held on Saturday, October 24th with 19 food trucks, great entertainers, raffle prizes, children’s activities and characters, great vendors helping to raise money and so much more. It ended up with 19 food trucks and over 10,000 people attending. It raised $15,000 towards wishes.

This year with Harrisburg Area Community College’s partnership it has moved to their Main Campus in the huge rear parking lot area. It will now feature 35 food trucks from all over Pennsylvania. Some of them have been featured on The Food Network and The Cooking Channel. Special host will be Erik from The Samboni Boys, the runner-up to Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race. It will also include children's activities, children's characters, three wonderful entertainers and an outstanding DJ from Klock Entertainment, a very special wish reveal with a huge surprise, vendors and other activities, a chance to spend time with your favorite local celebrities and 3 great raffles including a sports themed raffle. It will also include a food truck scavenger hunt all while helping Make-A-Wish.
