Food Truck Festival to Help Make Wishes Come True

What are you doing on October 22nd? Would you like to enjoy great food from 35 food trucks while helping to raise money for local Make-A-Wish children suffering from life threatening illnesses? The 2nd Annual Wish Upon a Food Truck Festival which will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Harrisburg Area Community College – Main Campus next to the Farm Show.

This year with Harrisburg Area Community College’s partnership it has moved to their Main Campus in the huge rear parking lot area. It will now feature 35 food trucks from all over Pennsylvania. Some of them have been featured on The Food Network and The Cooking Channel. Special host will be Erik from Philly’s Finest Sambonis, the runner-up to Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race.

Bring your children for the children’s activities and to meet all the wonderful characters including one of the Hershey characters, a Minion, Superheroes, Cinderella and Prince Charming, Andy the Ardvark, Princess Anna and Elsa plus others from A Perfect Party plus the Turkey Hill Hilda, Stan the Balloon Man, Clown Around Town, Freedom Bear, Freedom Mouse and Shiny Balloon Man.

Three incredible musical entertainers Liz Fulmer, the Dave Root Band and Ben & Joe along with an outstanding DJ from Klock Entertainment will provide great music throughout the event. A very special wish reveal for a local Make-A-Wish child, Gideon, will take place at 2 p.m. Please join us to help make Gideon’s wish celebration even more special. It will include music, dancing, local celebrities plus more. You can meet many of your favorite local celebrities between 10 and 1 and 1:00 and 3 at the event.

Don’t forget to stop by our vendors and other activities that will be taking place at the event. Many of them are offering special games or raffles or other items to help raise money for Make-A-Wish. In addition the Pennsylvania State Police, the Harrisburg Police and the Harrisburg Fire Company will be there with one of the fire trucks and handouts for the children.

If you would like to possibly win a great prize(s) you can buy raffle tickets for a chance on thousands of dollars worth of raffle prizes or take a chance on sports memorabilia in our first silent auction. Texas Roadhouse is donating a free appetizer coupon for every $5 you purchase in raffle tickets.

New this year is a Food Truck Scavenger Hunt with a cash prize of 50% of what is raised in the Scavenger Hunt. More details are on the website. Also new this year is the Celebrity Great Food Truck Challenge hosted by Erik Thompson from The Samboni Boys. It will take place at 2:30 p.m.. You can cheer on teams from ABC 27 and Cumulus Radio as they build their own food trucks from cardboard. The crowd helps to determine the winners by casting their votes. Each 25 cents that is donated to that team during the ½ hour will go towards their points to win the Challenge. You can help them to win a trophy and medals and the honor of being the 1st Celebrity Great Food Truck Challenge winners. 100% of the donations will go to Make-A-Wish.
