Dauphin County to Host Free Wetlands Festival at Wildwood Park

Celebrate the natural wonder of the wetland at the 16th Annual Wetlands Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at Wildwood Park in Harrisburg.
 
New this year, Shaver’s Creek’s Environmental Education Center will bring live animal exhibits and present programs with raptors and venomous snakes.  There will be walks focusing on turtles, frogs, birds, and wildflowers.  Family-friendly music, activities, exhibits, and food vendors round out the day.
 
Special events schedule:
  • 7:30 a.m. – Pre-Festival Photo Walk with Charlie Smith
  • 9:00 a.m. – Pre-Festival Bird Walk with Kim Van Fleet
  • 10:00 a.m. – Live Music with Mr. Music, Lenny Tepsich
  • 10:00 a.m. – Flower Walk with Jane Earle
  • 10:30 a.m. – Birds of Prey program with Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center
  • 11:00 a.m. – Turtle Walk with Dr. Walter Meshaka
  • 11:00 a.m. – Bird Walk with Rick and Peg Price
  • 12:30 p.m. – Birds of Prey program with Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center
  • 1:00 p.m. – Live Music with Jim Rule
  • 1:30 p.m. – Frog Walk with Jerod Skebo
  • 2:30 p.m. – Venomous Snakes of PA program with Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center

Wildwood Park is located on Industrial Road, a half mile north of the Harrisburg Area Community College campus, in Harrisburg.  The Benjamin Olewine III Nature Center is located in Wildwood Park and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
