A Non-Profit Fundraising Event with ALL Proceeds Benefiting Local Outreach Initiatives

The 22nd annual Great Pumpkin Chase, proudly hosted by St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral, is a non-profit fund raising event. All proceeds benefit local Outreach Ministries, including Allison Hill’s Gather the Spirit for Justice (formerly known as Common Ground Cafe), Health Ministries of Christ (only free dental clinic in tri-country area), & Susquehanna Harbor Safe Haven.

Place
Race-day registration and race packet pickup at City Island Carousel Pavilion. City Island is located off of the Market Street Bridge in the City of Harrisburg. Parking and restrooms available on City Island. City Island is approximately three-quarters of a mile from the church across the Walnut Street Bridge. 7:30 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. For more detailed directions, view the “Downtown Map” on our Directions page.

Time
5 K begins at 9:00 a.m.; One Mile Fun Run and Walk begins at 9:45 a.m.

Course
The 5k course is nationally certified with USA Track & Field guaranteeing distance. It’s mostly flat 5K begins by City Island’s Carousel Pavilion with a loop of City Island, continues across Walnut Street Bridge, south along the Susquehanna River, and finishes on City Island. We’re using PA Runners for chip timing with the chip adhered to the race bibs for convenient, accurate and fast race results. Walkers are welcome to participate in the 5k, we’d just ask that you line up behind the runners so start time is safer for everyone. The One Mile Fun Run is flat and begins and ends on City Island.

Entry Fee
$25 postmarked by Oct. 11th. All pre-registrants will receive a long sleeved T-shirt. For more information, phone 236-4059. Entry fee non-refundable. Rain or shine.

Late Registration
Late registration is $30 from Oct. 12th until Oct. 23rd. You can also register Friday, Oct. 23rd from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral Office, and on Saturday, Oct. 24th, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at City Island Carousel Pavilion. We know everyone LOVES the T-shirts but they are not guaranteed for late registrants with limited quantities on race day, so please register early!!

Packet Pick Up
Friday, Oct. 23rd from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral Office, and on Saturday, Oct. 24th from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at City Island Carousel Pavilion.

  • 15-19
  • 20-24
  • 25-29
  • 30-34
  • 35-39
  • 40-44
  • 45-49
  • 50-54
  • 55-59
  • 60-64
  • 65-69
  • 70 & over.
Awards
Overall male and female winners will receive $100 1st place; $50 2nd place; 3rd place $25. Trophies will be awarded to top 3 male and female finishers in each age group (excluding overall winners). Awards ceremony will take place at at the Carousel on City Island following fun Run/Walk. Refreshments and many door prizes.

Exceptions
Please no strollers, skateboards or roller blades.
