‘Reading Rocks’ program rewards children $10 for reading 10 books

August 26, 2015
This week, Metro Bank announced the kick-off of its summer reading program, “Reading Rocks,” to encourage children to continue to read during their summer break.

Through the program, kids can earn while they learn and keep their reading skills sharp over the summer. Metro Bank will deposit $10 into a new or existing Young Savers account for children who read 10 books and complete a “Reading Rocks” brochure by Sept. 30. Brochures are available at all Metro Bank Stores as well as partnering libraries in Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon and York counties. Baseball fans will also find the Reading Rocks flyer in the Harrisburg Senators game-day program.

“Metro Bank’s summer reading program seeks to teach children the importance of saving and get them excited about literacy – including financial literacy,” said Metro Bank Chairman, President and CEO Gary Nalbandian.

Children simply write down the titles of the 10 books they read in the brochure. The completed brochure can be redeemed at any Metro Bank Store. Metro Bank then deposits $10 into the child’s existing Young Savers account or assists to open a new one.
